The more I practiced mindfulness, the more I started to realise that overthinking is seldom about reality.

While it’s true that reality and our experiences can trigger it, ultimately, at least for me, the actual thoughts that start to feel like overthinking concern hypotheses, mind-reading and are no longer grounded on reality.

In a way, you could say that overthinking is thinking about thoughts. The more one overthinks, the more our thoughts concern other thoughts and the more they drift away from reality.
