The median is a measure of central tendency that divides a set of sorted data $X$ into two equal parts.

Let $n$ be the amount of values in the set (cardinality). If $n$ is even:

$$\mathrm{Median}(X)=\frac{x_{\left(\frac{n}{2}\right)}+x_{\left(\frac{n}{2}+1\right)}}{2}$$

If $n$ is odd:

$$\mathrm{Median}(X)=x_{\left(\frac{n+1}{2}\right)}$$
