If $f_1,\dots ,f_n$ are the frequencies of a variable $X$ (i.e. the amount of times it shows up), then:

$$\mathrm{Mean}(X)=\frac{{\sum }_{i=1}^n{f}_i{x}_i}{{\sum }_{i=1}^n{f}_i}$$

Example

For instance, given the following values:

$x$	$f_i$
2	4
5	1
6	3
8	4

…their mean is:

$$\mathrm{Mean}(x)=\frac{63}{12}$$
