An alveolo-palatal consonant is a consonant that has an intermediate articulation between the coronal consonants and the dorsal ones, or that has a simultaneous alveolar and palatal articulation.
Examples of alveolo-palatal consonants are the sibilants [ɕ], [ʑ] and their corresponding affricates [tɕ], [dʑ].
Alveolo-palatal are not to be confused with palato-alveolar consonants.
