A sample statistic or statistic (estadístico in Spanish) is a random variable of the form $g(X_1,\dots ,X_n)$ where $X_1,\dots ,X_n$ is a random sample and $g:{\mathbb{R}}^n\to \mathbb{R}$ a function.

For instance, in the context of a sample, mean and variance are sample statistics.
